Are you considering Cyber Essentials for your business?
Is it really worth it 🤷♂️
So what is it?
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed cybersecurity certification scheme designed to help organizations of all sizes demonstrate their commitment to cybersecurity best practices
Achieving Cyber Essentials certification is relatively inexpensive, and involves a self-assessment questionnaire and an external vulnerability scan conducted by a certification body.
Cyber Essentials Plus is an additional step that provides a higher level of assurance by validation of your security measures through internal testing by a certification body.
Is it worth it?
While Cyber Essentials is not a comprehensive cybersecurity solution and should be seen as a baseline rather than a complete security strategy, it provides a solid foundation for organizations looking to improve their cybersecurity defences.
We believe it is worth the time, effort and cost to get certified for 3 good reasons:
- It gives your business a baseline of security and focuses the minds of your staff more towards good security practices.
- It provides assurance to your customers and prospects that you are taking security seriously, so may help you get more business.
- You can get £25,000 of Cyber Liability insurance cover once you are certified.
How much is it likely to cost?
Costs vary depending on your business size and if you are self-certifying or have a managed certification service. But they start from around £480 for Cyber Essentials and £1,650 for Cyber Essentials Plus.
You will need to recertify annually.
