Greystone has been designing, developing and building bespoke software solutions for SME’s since 1999. We sat down with Software Engineer and Developer, Jason Davidson to find out more about the team members behind the code.
GT: So, why do you enjoy working at Greystone?
JD: I have been a Software Engineer for 15 years and joined Greystone about 3 years ago. From day one they were extremely welcoming and made me feel empowered to go about my projects autonomously. Being a small company, it means that I can get involved in lots of different types and sizes of projects – one day I could be working on a piece of incumbent software to improve processes and the next I could be developing an end to end solution for a start-up. I really enjoy working like this as it means it never gets boring and I can get completely immersed in providing the best solution for the client.
GT: Any particular projects you are looking forward to?
JD: For any project I am working on, I like to be involved from the start. This enables me to take the initial brief and work with the client to identify their needs, helping me design a solution that will solve their problems. For the first part of this year, my focus has been on a fantastic new venture (which has actually just launched) called Hapipod. The scope of the work was to build a front and back end web solution matching people offering a spare room at a low-cost, to a like-minded, younger companion. The concept is great as it helps beat loneliness and helps with the housing crisis for the younger generation. I am really looking forward to seeing them grow. The next few months are looking busy, as we are about to embark on building an end-to-end solution for Healthcare organisation which is pretty exciting.
GT: What keeps you happy outside of work?
JD: This is an odd one really as the last 12 months have been spent in lockdown – it honestly feels like I have been watching box sets for the last year! Once all the restrictions have lifted, I am looking forward to travelling, getting back into the cinema and having a pint with my friends in a local pub.
